Few things to know after getting the Lollipop update for Moto-E:

  • Network type indicators not shown in roaming mode - Google modified network indicator behavior in Lollipop. In KitKat, you were shown the network type (E/H/H+ etc) even when in roaming mode; Lollipop only shows an 'R' symbol over the network strength indicator.
  • No network type indicator when connected to WiFi - In Lollipop, the network type is shown only if the data connection for the SIM is being used. If WiFi is connected, it is preferred over cellular data connection and the network type indicator (E/H/H+ etc) is not shown in the status bar
  • Exclamation sign shown with WiFi connection - The exclamation point is shown when the WiFi signal is determined to be of lower quality; if there is no exclamation point the signal is higher quality. Internet access can still take place when the explanation point is showing.
